Who Are We?
Carey Baptist Assoc. has 63 member churches and missions that make up her fellowship. The Association ministry area is located in Southwest Louisiana, which consists of three parishes Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis. The area is bounded on the west by the Sabine River; on the east by Jennings and Evangeline; on the north by Beauregard and Allen Parishes; and on the south by the Gulf of Mexico. Our Association area is approximately 5625 square miles.
In addition to our churches and missions, our Association has a number of specialized ministries, such as: Grace Ministries, a multi-faceted ministry to women & children; The Seafarer's Ministry at the Port of Lake Charles; Language and Deaf Ministries.
The Carey Baptist Association was formally organized on November 11, 1892, at FBC Lake Charles. The founding member churches were: FBC Lake Charles, Vincent Settlement, FBC Crowley, FBC Westlake, FBC Welsh, and FBC Vinton. The total membership in all churches at the founding of the Association was 347. Today, our 63 member churches and missions have a total membership of approximately 35,000. We thank God not only for our rich past but also for our promising future.
